Understanding the Tests
Both the SAT and ACT are designed to measure college readiness, but they have different formats and emphases.
SAT Structure:
• Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (800 points)
• Math (800 points)
• Optional Essay (scored separately)
• Total: 1600 points
ACT Structure:
• English (36 points)
• Math (36 points)
• Reading (36 points)
• Science (36 points)
• Optional Writing (scored separately)
• Composite Score: 1-36 (average of four sections)

Test Day Tips
